Bot Lane tends to have an ADC, which is usually a marksman who can deal a lot of physical or true damage in the later stages of a game. The ADC is always paired with a Support, which is a Champion that typically helps the team by tanking damage, or by providing healing, shielding, or crowd control. Most games feature traditional Bot Lanes, but there are a few unorthodox Champion combos that can be quite effective.
Updated April 30, 2022, by George Voutiritsas: League of Legends can be a very frustrating game, especially during ranked matches. At the end of the day though, people play it because they want to have fun. Each season brings about new changes that affect every aspect of LoL’s gameplay, and Season 12 has seen its fair share of changes, which explains why certain Champions have been used in uncharacteristic roles on Summoner’s Rift. There have been a lot of strange Bot Lane combos this season, and many of them do not work because certain Champions cannot be played as an ADC or Support. However, that does not mean that every unorthodox combo is bad. In fact, this season has shown that there are plenty of fun Bot Lane combos that are indeed viable.
13 Veigar & Lux
Veigar is a Mid Lane Champion who constantly gains extra damage whenever an enemy gets hit by one of his abilities, which means that he endlessly scales. Lux is another Mid Laner, but she can be played as Support as well since she has a root. She can also give a shield to her allies and to herself.
Once she builds Luden’s Echo, Lux is capable of dealing massive damage, especially when she uses her Ultimate, which shoots a beam of light. Veigar can stun enemies with his wall, and Lux can then root them with her E and then unleash a devastating combo that will obliterate most ADCs.
12 Pyke & Ekko
Normally, it would not be a good idea to have two Assassins in the Bot Lane, but an exception can be made for Ekko and Pyke. Both Champions have dashes, so they can put a great deal of pressure on the enemy ADC, and the enemy Support won’t fair any better unless they’re a Tank.
What makes this combo so deadly is the fact that Pyke can use his Q to pull an enemy into Ekko’s W, and if Ekko is inside of his W, that enemy will get stunned. To make things worse, Pyke can then use his E and stun that same enemy again. Ekko can deal damage with his Q and dash, and if the enemy is low enough, Pyke can execute the enemy with his Ultimate.
11 Kai’Sa & Vex
Kai’Sa is a legitimate ADC, but she can be built to deal insane magic damage as well. She can fire a swarm of missiles with her Q, and her W missile that has unbelievable range, and if it hits a target, its cooldown decreases significantly. It scales with magic damage. Her Ultimate allows her to dash up to an enemy Champion.
Vex is still a relatively new champion, and she has a Passive which eventually allows her next spell to fear whoever she hits. Her W may not travel as far as Kai’Sa’s, but the potential fear makes up for it. Her Ultimate allows her to dash up to an enemy she has hit, which means that both she and Kai’Sa can potentially dash up to the enemy Bot Lane and unload their combos at the same time.
10 Viego & Renata
Viego’s kit is not that complicated-his Q gives him extra damage, his W gives him a small dash, his E creates mist which provides camouflage while also granting him extra movement and attack speed, and his Ult is a teleporting execute. What makes him an infuriating Champion, however, is his Passive, which allows him to take control of an enemy’s body after they die.
He can use their basic abilities and items, he regains health, and he can keep recasting it. Renata’s Ultimate releases a wave of chemicals that causes the enemy team to attack each other. Her W delays her ally’s death, and if they get a takedown, they do not die at all. If done properly, this combo would make killing Viego nearly impossible.
9 Samira & Katarina
An assassin like Katarina should only appear in the Bot Lane if they are ganking the enemy team from Mid Lane, but she can be played Bot if she is partnered with Samira. Katarina possesses one of LoL’s best assassin Ultimates, which involves her spinning rapidly while throwing daggers at nearby enemies.
Katarina is capable of melting squishy champions, and Samira’s Ult is more or less identical to Kat’s. The main difference, though, is the fact that Samira can also shred tanks. This pairing can do a lot of damage, and Samira’s W can stop any ranged attack, stun, or root from hitting Katarina while she unloads her combo.
8 Vladimir & Swain
Swain was used as a Support quite often last season, because he is a tanky mage who can either root enemies or pull them towards him. Swain’s maximum health increases when he harvests enemy soul fragments, and when he Ults, he can deal damage while draining health from enemy Champions.

Vladimir is another tanky mage, and his magic damage increases the higher his health is. If Swain manages to pull or root someone, Vladimir can drain them for a good chunk of their health. He can even pool to avoid attacks. The best part about this pairing is the fact that they can instantly kill an enemy champion if they both Ult while the target is below 50% health.
7 Yasuo & Yone
Yasuo is one of the game’s most hated Champions to play against, because he is an extremely mobile character who dashes towards enemies. He also deals an obscene amount of damage, to the point that he can tear through most ADC’s. When he is played Bot, he can harass the enemy team, and can block their projectiles with his infamous Wind Wall.
Yone is Yasuo’s brother, and he possesses a great deal of mobility as well. He can dash a fair distance with his Q and E, and like his brother, Yone can deal absurd damage with the right amount of attack speed and crit damage. Yasuo’s Ult triggers when an enemy gets knock up, and Yone’s Ult does exactly the same.
6 Nautilus & Pyke
Nautilus is a huge tank, and is one of the best Champions that new players can use without much difficulty. If he lands his Q, he pulls himself towards an enemy, and he can immediately root that enemy with a basic attack. His W grants him a shield, while his E slows and deals damage. His Ult can knock up and stun multiple targets.
Pyke is another support who uses his Q to pull enemies, but he is an assassin who can dash and stun targets with his E. Pyke’s Ult allows him to execute enemy champions who have low health, but he actually needs to land the ability. Nautilus’ crowd control abilities would allow Pyke to execute enemies a lot more easily.
5 Ekko & Zilean
Zilean is a great Support, because his Ultimate allows him to resurrect his ADC if they are about to die. He can give a speed boost to himself or his ADC, and his Q throws a bomb that can deal a surprising amount of damage. What’s more, if he lands two bombs on the same target, that target will get stunned.

Ekko is one of the game’s smartest champions, and if he’s paired with Zilean, it will be very difficult to defeat him. Ekko is a great Mid and Jungle Champion, because he can stun enemies and then dash into them. Additionally, his Ult allows him to deal significant damage while saving himself. Zilean can harass the enemy Bot lane, while Ekko can freely tower dive because he’ll have two ways to escape death.
4 Rengar & Sion
It is true that Sion is best utilized in the Top Lane, and it’s also true that Rengar is meant to be used in the Jungle. However, the two of them can be a fun and surprisingly effective Bot Lane. If Rengar builds the right items and maximizes his passive, he can obliterate an ADC or a fragile Support in two hits.
Sion can tank while Rengar farms, and would help Rengar to better utilize the Bot Lane bushes. If Sion charges up his Q, he will slam his axe on the ground and knock up the enemy ADC or Support. Rengar can then run into the bushes and leap onto the vulnerable target.
3 Heimerdinger & Ziggs
Ziggs may be a Mid laner, but he can be a very effective ADC, since he can push waves and damage towers quickly. He also has one of the best burst mage Ultimates in the game. Heimerdinger is another Yordle who can be played in Mid or Top Lane, and can set turrets that can be quite troublesome.
If these two Champions are used in Bot Lane, the enemy team will undoubtedly be pushed behind their tower for the majority of the laning phase. Players can use this until Ziggs can blow up the tower with his W. Ziggs can deal a lot of damage with his Q, and Heimer can burn the enemy team with his turrets if they try to push forward.
2 Thresh & Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank and Thresh are both Supports who can pull enemies, but they are fundamentally different characters. Blitz can give himself a speed boost with his W, while his E allows him to knock up an enemy. His Ult silences enemies while dealing magic damage. Thresh is considered one of the hardest characters to play because he can pull himself towards enemies and flail them in different directions. He can also toss a lantern to save an ally, and his Ult slows enemies down up to 99%.

The fun thing about this combo is that Blitz can pull someone and then grab Thresh’s lantern. If Thresh is stationed under his own turret, the enemy Champion will have nowhere to go because of their combined CC.
1 Veigar & Anivia
Veigar is considered one of the most evil characters in the game, and like Anivia, he is supposed to be played in Mid. Both of these Champions can put up walls that are very annoying for enemies to deal with. Anivia’s wall is used to stop an enemy Champion’s escape. Meanwhile, Veigar’s is circular, and anyone who steps on its edge gets stunned.
Anivia can clear waves incredibly fast with her Ult, and Veigar can constantly increase his magic damage if his abilities hit an enemy. This pairing can do a ton of burst damage, especially if Veigar lands a good wall or if Anivia lands a stun. Basically, if Anivia doesn’t melt an enemy with her combo, Veigar can obliterate them with his.
