Fans are still trying to piece together the era, theme, and future of the Call of Duty franchise. A popular Call of Duty leaker has unveiled some major information in a minor tweet. This reliable source has been right in previous estimates and assumptions bringing credibility to their claim.

The tweet came from the leaker account Okami13_ and it was kept really simple. Okami claims that COD 2020 is still on schedule for a 2020 release. This announcement comes after rumors of COD 2020 delays. Okami writes that the reveal for the game is “coming very soon” but he does not explain what soon means. Although this information does not come from Activision, fans are taking it as a serious announcement. With no other information available, this is the fan’s best source regarding the highly anticipated title.
Although fans appreciate any information that leakers can supply, many of them still wonder what the game will look like. Previous leaks suggest that the game will be set during the Call of Duty: Black Ops timeline. After the appearance of Call of Duty: The Red Door players are now almost certain that the next campaign will have to do with the Cold War, the CIA, and events of that era.
In later tweets, Okami clarified some aspects of their statement. When asked where the reveal will take place Okami responded with “Gotta be Warzone.” The popularity and reach of Warzone alone makes it an easy to use platform for revealing something as massive as Call of Duty 2020.
Okami and fans are expecting the announcement to be in 2 weeks. The most likely date would be August 5th as it would coincide with Season 5’s official release. With so many map updates expected in the next season of Call of Duty: Warzone it would seem like a natural time to unveil the next game in the franchise.
Call of Duty 2020 is expected to be available on next-gen consoles and PC.
