The (Potentially) New Surface Laptop Go
The news leaked out on Windows Central, which has a good track record for insider info that eventually comes true. For instance, the website was one of the first to sound the alarm over a “huge Windows 10 UI revamp” which ended up being Windows 11.
Now, the website has cited “[its] sources” to state that a new Surface Laptop Go is in the works. Microsoft has given it the codename “Zuma,” but it’s likely that it’ll just be called the Surface Laptop Go 2 on release.
The leaker stated that you may not need to wait long to get your hands on one:
The laptop is rumored to come in a small range of specifications. The entry-level model will cost $549, while the most advanced one will set you back $899. And the laptops will be a “relatively minor refresh” without any huge changes made to the Surface Laptop Go’s formula.
Historically, Microsoft uses the spring period to ship minor refreshes of its products, so it makes sense for a Surface Laptop Go 2 to be announced during this time.
Microsoft Is Making a Mark on the Work-From-Home Market
After the shift to a work-from-home economy, Microsoft began seeing lots of profits from its software, hardware, and services. As such, the company is likely very invested in ensuring it keeps its top spot.
Microsoft has been working hard on making Windows 11 a productivity powerhouse, such as improving Windows 11’s Focus mode. And given how quickly Microsoft wants to get this laptop out, it may be a sign that the company fears that it may lose its edge to a competitor.
Surface Laptop Go, or Surface Laptop No-Go?
While this news sounds promising, it is still just a leak. As such, we’ll just have to wait and see if Microsoft goes ahead with its plans to release a successor to the Surface Laptop Go.
